Families often ask us which is better, and the truthful answer is: it depends on the setting. Fresh flowers bring fragrance, softness and a living beauty that nothing imitates — and for the mandap, where rituals happen at close quarters, we almost always recommend them. Artificial and mixed arrangements have their place too: high ceiling installations that no one touches, outdoor structures facing hot afternoon sun, or multi-day functions where fresh blooms would tire by the second evening. Most of our weddings use a considered mix — fresh where guests are near, faux where height and heat demand endurance.
Working With the Seasons
Flower markets move with the calendar. Some varieties are abundant and affordable in one season and scarce in another; wedding-season peaks tighten supply for everyone. Rather than promising a specific bloom months in advance, we design around a palette and a mood — and then source the best flowers available in your wedding week. Stage and Mandap Construction — Where the Wedding Actually Happens
Everything at a wedding orbits two structures: the mandap where the vows are taken, and the stage where the couple receives a thousand blessings. Get these right and the whole event feels grand; get them wrong and no amount of lighting can compensate. Shabdha Studios Events designs and builds both — from traditional Telugu mandapams to contemporary reception stages — with equal attention to beauty and engineering.
The Traditional Telugu Mandap
A proper mandap is not merely decoration; it is ritual architecture. The classic Telugu kalyana mandapam calls for the right proportions around the homam, seating for the couple and both sets of parents, space for the purohit and his samagri, and clear sightlines so relatives can witness the talambralu and mangalsutra dharana. We build with banana stems, mango leaf torans, coconut and marigold where tradition asks for them, and we consult your purohit on orientation and layout before a single pole goes up. Tradition is honoured in the details, and the details are our job.
Contemporary Stages for Receptions
Reception evenings ask for something different — scale, glamour and a backdrop that holds up through hours of photographs. We design contemporary stages with layered backdrops, floral and fabric treatments, and seating that keeps the couple comfortable through long greeting lines. Every stage is planned with photography sightlines and lighting positions in mind, because we know from years behind the camera exactly where those thousand family photos will be taken from.
Structural Safety, Taken Seriously
A stage carries the two most important people of the day, plus a steady stream of guests. We do not take that lightly:

A wedding today is really a festival: haldi one morning, mehendi that afternoon, sangeet at night, muhurtam the next dawn and a reception to close. When each event is decorated in isolation, the celebration feels stitched together from unrelated parts. Theme decor is the discipline of designing them as one story — so your guests move from function to function feeling the same wedding unfold in different moods.
Finding Your Theme
A theme is not a Pinterest board; it is a set of decisions. In our first design meeting we ask about the two of you, your families, the venues and the feeling you want guests to leave with. From that we propose a direction — royal Nizami grandeur, garden-fresh pastels, rustic marigold-and-brass, temple-classic gold and red, or something entirely your own. We then translate it into a palette, materials, typography for signage and a signature element that repeats across events, from the welcome arch to the return-gift table.
Cohesion Without Repetition
The craft lies in variation. Your haldi should not look like your reception — but they should clearly belong to the same family. We achieve that by holding some elements constant and flexing others:
- A consistent colour palette, expressed brightly at haldi and richly at the reception
- Recurring motifs — a monogram, a flower, a pattern — appearing in new forms at each event
- Materials that evolve, from raw cotton and marigold by day to velvet and brass by night

We also make sure the theme never obstructs tradition: the mandap stays ritually correct whatever the palette, elders find their seating comfortable, and the pheras or talambralu are never crowded by installations built for photographs.

Walk into two identical halls — one under flat white tube light, the other washed in warm amber with fairy lights tracing the ceiling — and you will swear they are different venues. Lighting is the least visible element of wedding decor and the most powerful. At Shabdha Studios Events, we design lighting and fabric draping together, because between them they decide the entire mood of your celebration.
Light Decides How Your Wedding Is Remembered
Here is something we know intimately, because our studio has photographed weddings since 2013: light is what the camera records. Not the flowers, not the fabric — light reflecting off them. A beautifully decorated stage under harsh mixed lighting photographs poorly; a modest one under warm, well-placed light glows. When we plan your lighting, we are simultaneously planning your photographs and films. Skin tones stay natural, the couple is lit gently rather than glared at, and the haldi's golden turmeric or the reception's deep reds appear on camera exactly as your eyes saw them.
Layers, Not Just Brightness

Draping: The Soft Architecture
Fabric does for a venue what lighting does for a mood. Draping softens bare ceilings, hides structural clutter, frames stages and turns an ordinary function hall into a tent of colour. We select fabrics for how they hold light — sheer whites that glow when backlit, rich velvets that anchor a royal theme — and we rig every drape securely, with cabling routed safely away from guest areas and the homam flame.

Your guests form their impression of the wedding before they see the couple, the stage or the food. It happens at the gate — the moment the car door opens and they look up at the entrance. A grand arch, a fragrant pathway, a warm welcome installation: these first five seconds set the tone for everything that follows. Shabdha Studios Events treats the entrance as the opening line of your celebration, and we write it carefully.
The Welcome Arch
The arch is the signature of your entrance — and increasingly, one of the most photographed spots of the whole event. We design arches to match your wedding's theme and scale: full floral semicircles in marigold and jasmine for traditional muhurtams, lush pastel-and-greenery frames for receptions, rustic bamboo-and-brass structures for mehendi lawns. Every arch is built on a braced frame, weighted and secured, because an entrance that guests walk under must be engineered as seriously as it is decorated.
The Journey to the Venue
Between gate and hall lies the pathway, and it should feel like an unfolding welcome rather than a walk through a parking lot. Depending on your venue we work with:
- Flanking arrangements — potted palms, floral pillars or diya stands lining the walk
- Overhead elements like hanging marigold strings, umbrellas or fairy-light canopies
- Traditional touches — rangoli, banana stems and mango-leaf torans at thresholds

Photo Corners That Guests Actually Use
Modern Hyderabad weddings live twice — once at the venue and once on family phones. We build dedicated photo corners near the entrance: a decorated frame, a floral wall, a seating vignette with good light. Because our team comes from photography, we position these where the light flatters and the background stays clean, so every uncle's phone picture turns out well, not just the official album. It also does quiet crowd work — guests pause there instead of bottlenecking at the stage.
